About

Magnus Okeke

Hi. I’m Magnus. In 2013, I started working at a Cafe right after graduating from High School. I didn’t like working at the Cafe very much, so in 2014, I started visiting friends in Lagos and eventually got a job as a Web Designer/PR at a Radio Station. There, I worked with Lolo 1 of Wazobia (AKA Adaku of Jenifa’s Dairy). This was also the same year I wrote a 22-episode TV series that aired on DSTV (African Magic Igbo)

Then in 2015, after writing Waec twice, Neco twice and GCE twice, I was admitted to Yaba College of Technology to study Computer Science. I didn’t enjoy it, so I graduated after 2 years.

The school was not what I expected, so I reached out to OkadaBooks to write FAQ articles and resolve customer issues for them. I got the Job and the users grew 3x, their needs grew too. So I stayed at OkadaBooks to interact with awesome people and help fix their problems. Some became friends. This happened between 2015 and 2019.

I interned at CCHUB for a while, that’s where I learned to code. So, school was not all a waste. I also made new friends at the Hub and at school. I started a company with one of them, we called it 4ward.ng (you could buy waec, neco and other result checkers there). We later shut it down because it wasn’t easy to run in Nigeria.

I am a currently a Product Management student and I work at 5CA, an awesome gaming support company based in the Netherlands.

A producer once told me that I was one of the best storytellers he had come across after I wrote that series and a short film for him – The Housekeepers on DSTV. People tell me I write so well but I don’t consider myself a writer, not yet, at least. I won the March Edition of African Storytellers Competition in April 2015 though

My hobby is fishing. Apart from fishing, I love movies a lot so I write about them on whygoseeit.com. I also love to travel… like a lot, and I can adapt anywhere and make the most of anything. I’m a restless Gemini, so there is always something to do. I’ve never been bored.

Other things: I have modelled (when I was handsome), reviewed products on my Youtube channel and built Bookclubs.com.ng to help Nigerians list Bookclubs and Bookstores around them for others to find and Join/visit
